In line with their studies, students of MBA Luxury Brand Management, Fashion, and Jewelry & Cosmetics attended a seminar dedicated to the diamond industry on 16 October in Antwerp.
Hosted by the Public Relations Officer of Antwerp Diamond Bourse, the students first took part in a lecture focused on diamond manufacturing and trading before visiting one of the oldest Gemological laboratories in the heart of the diamond district. They were able to meet Pieter BOMBEKE, a craftsman jeweler who showed his savoir-faire on cutting and polishing precious stones.
Guided by their professor Martine NAMAN, the future professionals of Luxury also had the privilege to visit the trading company RAINBOW Gems International, where Eddy ELZAS, specializing in colored diamonds, presented his career, his expertise and the different processing stages in transforming a rough diamond.
Intended to grasp the business and organization of the most important diamond stock exchange in the world, this exciting study tour also enabled students to gain a deeper understanding of the economic and commercial stakes of the fine and haute joaillerie industry.
Study tours are an important asset in the training and are fully integrated within the Luxury Brand Management, Fashion, Jewelry & Cosmetics program: they allow students to meet the key actors in the sector while benefiting directly from their feedback, to discover the core activities of larges companies and to reinforce their theoretical knowledge by real practices.
